Just A Few Reminders...

 ++ Parks & Recreation Master Plan Public Hearing++

     At the February 9, 2016 Board of Trustees meeting, we will be holding a Public Hearing for approval of the Parks & Recreation Master Plan.  We value the opinions of our residents, so we are asking for your input.  A link to the Parks & Recreation Master Plan is included below.  Please take a minute to look it over, and provide us with your feedback.  All are welcome (and encouraged) to attend the Public Hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at 7:00pm.

     TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF NORTHFIELD, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN AND ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:  PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Northfield Township Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing to review the Parks & Recreation Master Plan.  The public hearing will be held at the Northfield Township Hall, 8350 Main St., Whitmore Lake, MI 48189 on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

     The Northfield Township Board will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services to individuals with disabilities at the meeting provided that notice is given 7 days in advance. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services should contact the Northfield Township Board by writing or calling the following: Northfield Township, 8350 Main St., Whitmore Lake, MI 48189 (734)449-2880.

++ Township Offices will be CLOSED on Monday, February 15, 2016 in observance of President's Day



++ Sewer Bills ++
     February Sewer Bills will be mailed out this week.  To avoid late fees, payments are due by Monday, February 29th.  Failure to receive your bill does not waive the past due penalty.  Sewer bills can be paid with cash, check, credit/debit card*, or money order.
 
Option A: You can pay your bills at the Township Office:

  • in person during office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
    (see above for dates we are closed)
  • by using the drop box in the office vestibule during non-office hours
  • by mail - payments by mail must be received in our office by Monday, February 29 to avoid late fees.  We are not responsible for delays in mail delivery.

Option B: You can pay your bill on-line with a credit/debit card*
Option C: You can pay with a credit card* over the phone by calling toll free
(800) 272-9829, use code #3241.
*There is a service fee of $2.75 for credit/debit card payments for utility bills.


++ Winter Tax Bills ++

     2015 Winter Tax bills are due by Tuesday, February 16, 2016.  Our office will be open until 5:00PM on this day.  After Feb. 16th, there will be penalties and interest assessed.  The last day the Township office can accept 2015 tax payments is Monday, February 29, 2016.  Any taxes not paid by this date will be turned over to the County for collection.



++ Elections ++

·         Election Inspectors
     The Primary Elections will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.  We are in need of volunteers to work at our polling locations as Election Inspectors.  Election Inspectors will be paid for their time and are required to attend a half-day training prior to election day.  If you are interested in volunteering for the election, please complete the Election Inspector Application, and return it to the Northfield Township Clerk's Office:

·         Last Day to Register:
     The last day to register to vote for the Presidential Primary is Monday, February 8, 2016.  To register, please contact the Clerk’s office at 734-449-2880 ext. 14 or visit your local Secretary of State office.
     To see if you are already registered, visit www.Michigan.gov/vote.  There you will find information about registering to vote and voting, voting equipment, polling place locations, state and local ballots, the candidates, campaign finance, and more.  Our Clerk's office can also help you with questions about your voter registration, polling place locations, and working at the polls.

  • Absentee Voters:
         The deadline for those who wish to receive an Absent Voter ballot by mail must submit applications to the Clerk's office by 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2016.  Our office will be open from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm on this day to accept applications.
     
  • Ballot Preview:
         Ballots are currently available for viewing.  Please visit www.Michigan.gov/vote or come into the Township office during normal business hours (8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday) if you would like to view the ballot prior to the election.
